An ecozone or a zonobiome is a extended part of the biosphere. Examples are the humid tropics and the boreal zone (Northern conifer forest zone).

Ibiza belongs to the Mediterranean zone with humid, mild winters and dry, hot summers. That climate is found in the west of the continental masses, also in California, Central Chile, the South Africen Capeland and South-West Australia. That's why South African plants can grow well in the Mediterranean area.

The other zones are: the polar zone (Arctic and Antarctic), the boreal zone (only on the Northern hemisphere, some authors find a corresponding zone on the Southern hemisphere and call it austral zone), the humid temperate or nemoral zone, the dry temperate zone, the ever-humid tropics (mainly in the east of the continental masses), the dry subtropics, the dry tropics, the tropics with rain in summer and the ever-humid tropics.
